I don’t have a video for this recipe.
If I had a photo, I would most certainly use it. That is... unless the photo I have sucks. For now, you'll just have to picture a big heaping helping of

The People's Choice Burger

In honor of National Cheeseburger Day, I asked my Instagram audience what their favorite burger toppings were, and the top ones all made it into the burger. And so we ended up with cheese, mushrooms, sauteed onions, bbq sauce, an egg and bacon. And boy, what a crazy (huge) delicious combo. You can cut it down to one patty if you prefer..but I wouldn't. I say make it and share it. Because half of a double is better than a whole single.

Makes One

Ingredients

  • Oil
  • 3 ounces sliced mushrooms
  • 1 teaspoon soy
  • Oil
  • 1/4 yellow onion, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon vermouth
  • 1/4 cup bbq sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Kewpie mayo
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha
  • 2 - 1/3 pound patties, if possible use equal parts chuck, short rib and brisket - trust me
  • Kosher salt & coarse ground black pepper
  • 1 slice American cheese
  • 1 slice white cheddar cheese
  • 3 slices bacon, cooked and crispy
  • 1 egg
  • 1 brioche bun, toasted

Directions

  1. Heat cooking surface, and add a little oil in 2 spots - put the mushrooms on one, and the onions the other
  2. Cook both until nicely softened and beginning to caramelize, then add the soy to the mushrooms, and vermouth to the onions - mix then set aside
  3. Combine bbq sauce, Kewpie & sriracha, mix and set aside

Lets cook!

  1. Heat your surface, add some more oil and the two patties, season with salt & pepper, cook until done one one side, then flip and add a slice of cheese to each
  2. Cook the egg (keeping the yolk runny if you're cool with it)
  3. When the patties are done - you can build: bottom bun, bbq sauce mix, mushrooms, patty with cheese, bbq sauce mix, 2nd patty with cheese, bacon, onions, egg top bun with bbq sauce mix
