I don’t have a video for this recipe.
If I had a photo, I would most certainly use it. That is... unless the photo I have sucks. For now, you'll just have to picture a big heaping helping of

...in your mind.

Detroit Style In-N-Out Pizza

If you're an In-N-Out fan, you're gonna be a fan of this. I make it in a 10x14 Detroit style pan (available here). But you could easily use two 8x8 pans, or just make it like a regular pizza and all will still be delicious.

Likely serves 4-6

Ingredients

  • Olive oil
  • One ball pizza dough, recipe here or any one pound ball
  • 2 large yellow onions, finely diced
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 3/4 pound ground beef
  • Kosher salt & coarse ground black pepper
  • 1/2 cup mayo
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha
  • 1/2 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 large dill pickle, diced
  • 1/2 pound American cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup chopped iceberg lettuce
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes

Directions

  1. Oil pan(s) generously, including up the sides
  2. Remove dough from fridge 2 hours before using, add to the pan and gently stretch out, don't try to get to the edges yet - set aside for 30 minutes
  3. Put a tablespoon of oil and the butter in a large skillet over medium high heat, and add the onions - cook 15-20 minutes, stirring often until caramelized then remove to a bowl
  4. Don't wipe out the pan, but put in another tablespoon of oil and the ground beef - cook until no longer pink - remove and set aside
  5. Make the sauce - combine the mayo, ketchup, sriracha, mustard, and diced pickled in a bowl, mix well and set aside
  6. Preheat oven to 500
  7. Now you should be able to stretch the dough to the corners, and once done top with the shredded cheese (being sure to get some all along the edges of the pan), the add the sauce, the crumbled beef and finally the onions
  8. Bake 15-20 minutes until done (or less if a thinner version)
  9. Remove, and top with the lettuce and tomato
  10. Happy eating
