Cherry Bourbon Glazed Ham

This was my first ham, and boy was it ever delicious, and surprisingly easy. Oh, and for the record despite what the YouTube video names is - there's no honey in mine. Hope that doesn't change your mind about making it.

Serves about 10

Ingredients

  • 1 fully cooked spiral cut ham, about 8 pounds
  • 1/2 cup cherry bourbon
  • 1/3 cup Dijon mustard
  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup spicy deli mustard
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Chinese 5 spice - no 5 spice...try a half cinnamon and half allspice
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • Juice and zest of one orange

Directions

  1. Remove ham from fridge about an hour before cooking
  2. Preheat oven to 275°
  3. Unwrap ham, dry well and place on a rack on a baking sheet
  4. Combine Dijon and 1/2 cup of the cherry bourbon in a small bowl, mix well, brush over the ham and place in the oven for 90 minutes to heat through
  5. Combine remaining ingredients in a small pots over low heat, stirring well to combine, bring to a low simmer and cook for 5 to 10 minutes until thickened, then takeoff the heat
  6. Combine remaining ingredients in a small pot over medium heat, stir well to combine
  7. Simmer on low 5 to 10 minutes or until thickened, then take off the heat and set aside
  8. After the 90 minutes is up, carefully remove the ham from the oven and turn up the heat to 425°
  9. Brush the glaze on the entire ham while trying to get in between the slices, then put back into the oven for 15 to 20 minutes or until gorgeous, shiny and glazed
  10. Slice and enjoy like crazy
